Apples

Apples

Storage Tips:

To keep your apples fresh and crisp, place them in the coldest part of your refrigerator or crisper drawer. Refrigeration slows the ripening process and helps keep apples crisp and fresh. Keeping apples in a plastic bag is a great way to maintain quality, as it protects the fruit from taking on the aroma of strong-smelling foods and prevents dehydration. Following these storage practices will keep your apples fresh and crisp for up to 6 weeks. Finally, right before you are ready to eat your fruit, gently rinse each apple under cool water and dry with a paper towel.

Pairing Ideas:

While the juicy, sweet-tart flavors of apples can certainly stand alone, they also complement many great wines and cheeses. The following are pairing ideas for each of the apple varieties we sell at Bountiful Fruit:

  • American Cameo: Blue cheese and Merlot wine
  • Mountain Fuji: Sharp cheddar cheese and Pinot noir wine
  • Kings Gala: Fontina cheese and Pinot Gris wine
